My English 101 series is for basic things in the English language that any writer should know, regardless of their native language. (For those of you who don't know how university courses are often numbered, 101 is often used to mark the basic course in any subject. These are the English basics.)

I do apologize that this was originally intended to be a project for the year 2012, and... well, now it's 2014 and I've only posted one. And 2015 has arrived. I have several drafts laid out, but they aren't written well enough to post and expect everyone to understand regardless of what level a writer or how native a speaker, which was the idea behind this series.

The current series plan is laid out below, and I will be sticking to it unless I find that one topic needs more than I can write in a single grammar guide. In that case, I may split it in two parts, or more. Once I've posted all of these, I will hopefully have come up with other useful topics, and I'll continue on.

  • Sentences, part 1: Basics
  • Sentences, part 2: Clauses
  • Verbs, part 1: Conjugation
  • Sentences, part 3: Conditionals
  • Punctuation
  • Verbs, part 2: Active and Passive
  • Prepositions
  • Pronouns and Pronominals
  • Common Mistakes: Confusable Homonyms and Homophones (Words Spelled/Sound Alike)
  • Common Mistakes: How You Say It (is not how you write it)
  • Common Mistakes: Comparisons, Superlatives, and Uncountables

Have I missed anything? Please send me any suggestions for further grammar tutorials, and if you send a note please title it something to make it stand out (like "Grammar Tutorial Idea"). Feel free to discuss in the comments below, I'll keep an eye on them.

Also, if any of these are hard to understand, let me know. I want these to be easy-read guides for anyone to use, and it doesn't do me any good if they're too complicated.
