a retired police officer's arrival
an ushering-in
of a safer enclave, but i
never expected much from you

self-aware enough

Letter of a Revolution
Paris, 21st January, 1793
I feel as if I should address this letter to someone, as I am in desperate need of an ally, yet me writing this is proof that in my final moments, I have been left with naught but ink and paper to comfort me.
Both my wife and daughter are currently crawling through the secret passages beneath the foundation of our manor, while I sit within the study, awaiting my fate.
My intention is to destroy those who will destroy me. There is a loaded brace of pistols around my chest, and my late father's sword is hilted upon my waist. I can hear his words emanating from it, like the blast of a military bugle.

Now then...
A piece of advice I give to people who seem to have confidence problems when it pertains to their writing is to not compare themselves to anyone else. Doesn't matter if it's another deviant, a classmate, sibling, hero, rival, etc -- I don't think it's particularly helpful to be competitive when something as subjective as art is the focus.

The Fades
I forged the world between my finger tips, playing in the clay with a smile on my lips. The world would be tragic, a cold place were love goes to die and fades into the creases of withered hearts, broken by the burden of existing. I was a tyrant of a god. The world would moan as I twisted it to chaos, and I'd smile and wait, watching the swirls of earth turn black and chard beneath my hand. The sky’s would rain acid, and the air would boil the skin, and the water would turn thick as tar and the land would cave in. I'd smile at the toil of the people below as they wailed in question, “How could this be, why?”
